Aston Martin V12 Vantage

The Aston Martin Vantage was introduced at the 2005 Geneva Motor Show to compete with the Porsche 997, Ferrari 430 and Lamborghini Gallardo. It is the last design for Aston Martin from the hand of Henrik Fisker.

The V8 Vantage is the basic model of the Vantage series and is the production model of the Aston Martin AMV8 Vantage Concept, introduced in 2005, the Roadster followed in 2007. The 4.3 litre V8 is based on Jaguar's AJ-V8 engine, which was completely redesigned for Aston Martin and delivers 385 hp in the V8 Vantage. In 2011, a performance-enhanced version, called the V8 Vantage S, was introduced. Externally, the V8 Vantage S can be recognised by its modified front and rear bumpers and side skirts, and in the case of the Coupé, by the raised tailgate edge. Technically, the output of the 4.7-litre V8 has been increased to 321 kW (436 PS).

On 11 December 2007, the Aston Martin V12 Vantage RS Concept was presented to the public in Gaydon. The production model V12 Vantage was launched in 2009. The V12 Vantage is based on the V8 Vantage Coupé. The 6.0 V12 engine delivers up to 380 kW (517 hp) at 6500 rpm and has a maximum torque of 570 Nm at 5750 rpm. Aston Martin states the total production time as 220 hours. Externally, the V12 can be distinguished from the V8 not only by the air scoops in the bonnet but also by the more pronounced front and rear diffusers.

In 2010 the special model Carbon Black Special Edition was introduced.  Customers who ordered a Carbon Black Edition V12 Vantage had the opportunity to experience the prestigious Aston Martin Performance Driving Course free of charge, which provided a memorable day and helped customers acquire the skills necessary to increase the enjoyment of their Aston Martin on the race track. The price of the V12 Vantage Carbon Black resulted in a 5% premium over the basic V12 Vantage model.

This special model is distinguished by various special applications. Within 50 hours a special black metallic paint was applied by hand, which gives the special models their name. In addition, the Special Edition has real carbon fibre trim parts in the side ventilation gills and on the bonnet.  To round off the exterior appearance, the Aston Martin stands on diamond-turned 19" ten-spoke aluminium wheels with black painted interior surfaces. The striking front grille has been polished to a high gloss. The leather upholstery in obsidian black with silver contrast stitching, obsidian black carpets and applications in black piano lacquer looks very noble and clearly enhances the interior. Additionally carbon parts were used in the interior. Special sports seats with Kevlar seat shells save 17 kg in weight. A Bang& Olufsen sound system completes the overall package. Parking sensors were integrated in this special model. The technical difference is that the Carbon Black Special Edition was delivered exclusively with the 6-speed manual transmission.  Although it was not a numbered, limited edition, the Carbon Black was limited to only one car per dealer, so they are quite rare. A second numbered edition of the Carbon Black V12 Vantage was offered in some markets in 2012.

Production of the V12 Vantage was discontinued in 2013 in favour of the V12 Vantage S.
